Some Thoughts On Vegetarianism

Ovo-Lacto-Vegetarian- A person who eats no meat, fish, or poultry but who does eat eggs and dairy products

Vegan- A person whose diet excludes all forms of animal products including meat, fish and poultry, eggs, dairy, gelatin, whey, refined sugar, and honey

*
Data are strong that vegetarians are at lesser risk for obesity, atonic [reduced muscle tone] constipation, lung cancer, and alcoholism. Evidence is good that risks for hypertension, coronary artery disease, type II diabetes, and gallstones are lower. Data are only fair to poor that risks of breast cancer, diverticular disease of the colon, colonic cancer, calcium kidney stones, osteoporosis, dental erosion, and dental caries are lower among vegetarians.* -FDA.gov

*Eating a low-fat vegan diet may be better at managing type 2 diabetes than traditional diets.* -WebMD

Thanksgiving dinner's sad and thankless
Christmas dinner's dark and blue
When you stop and try to see it

From the turkey's point of view.

Sunday dinner isn't sunny

Easter feasts are just bad luck
When you see it from the viewpoint

Of a chicken or a duck.

Oh how I once loved tuna salad
Pork and lobsters, lamb chops too
Till I stopped and looked at dinner
From the dinner's point of view.

-Where the Sidewalk Ends, Shel Silverstein
